Our Story

How We Met

Easy... Tinder!
We had already been messaging each other. Ash had actually taken the initiative one Saturday night and asked Matt out. GO ASH...

Our first date was amazing! Ash talked the whole time. Matt drank mulled wine for the first time. We walked through Sydney's Botanic Gardens on a cold winters night under the Vivid lights. The night of course ended with a first kiss on the Pyrmont bridge, which of course, Ash initiated...

Proposals done differently

The first proposal was for Matt to move to the "The Smith Street Palace". Made sense and normal for a new couple. Next came pitching the idea of a baby to Matt. This took some convincing and in the end, it didn't take much to twist the arm. They say practice makes perfect. Little did Matt know all that practice would pay off and 2 weeks later we would have Humphrey on the way. The third proposal Matt finally got in and we bought our dream home in Mollymook. Then finally came the wedding proposal. Clearly a Matt organised event. On the famous Wattegos Beach in Byron Bay, under a penis tree, Matt didn't even get on one knee, he just ripped out a ring. The look on Ash's face was disbelief. She was torn between "OMG it's happening" and "is this the best you could do?"

Wedding Party

Ramsay Horton

Where do we even start? RAMZEEEE!
The infamous Town Hall Hotel in Balmain would spark the relationship of the century. Little to Ash's disappointment, they were both interested in the same guys. Many weekends spent together drinking wine and dancing the night away, trips to the beautiful Warble, a short stint of living together, sharing stories of the boy of the month, their relationship has always been strong. Ramsay is the absolute life of the party and loves to share a hilarious story. The devil is always in the detail.

Wayde Jacobs

Jay and Matt met in the Army more than 15 years ago. Now living a life well beyond the years of the Army, Jay spends his working life helping others as a Paramedic and his personal life in gratitude for the most simple things. The freedom of surfing waves with his mates, having a beer and a burger on a hot Summers day, diving, travelling and of course being the best unofficial tour guide in Australia

Ali Bignell

Blockbuster Video Launceston, 2009. Ash thought Ali was way too cool and wouldn't want to be friends. The start of the friendship is unclear, however it was the desire to leave Tasmania when they grew up (and Rose') which has kept them growing closer over the years. For a little human, our energiser bunny has an enormous heart and an even bigger smile. Equally as social as Ash, Ali will always say yes to an opportunity and fully live the experience

Brian Williams

Matt and Brian first met on ANZAC Day of 1984. Growing up together in the outer west suburb of Belfield meant we had plenty of space for riding bikes, backyard Cricket and a trampoline for breaking elbows. These days, it's all about Surfing! It will only take about 30 seconds until you're talking about the best break on the NSW South Coast. Brian is super relaxed and loves the simple life. He doesn't say much, however, if you want to get him talking, he is so passionate about 2 things; Surfing and giving his opinion on current events

Amy Boulter-Freshney

Although Amy and Ash grew up living a close 10km away in the small island of Tasmania, their worlds didn't collide until many years later when they were saving lives in the ICU of RPA hospital. Although Ash was one of the reasons Amy left the nursing industry, their relationship has always remained strong. Always dressed to impress, Amy is such a genuine, positive, happy person who is always offering to help, puts others first and is always up for a fun time.

Humphrey Williams

In the last 2 years, Humpy has really turned into the most beautiful, loving, cuddly human you could meet. His favourite things are books, hugs, surfing, balls and babychinos.

Wishing well

More than just kisses so far we've shared, our home has been made with love and care. Most things we need we've already got, and in our home we can't fit a lot. A donation to our wishing well would be great, there is a donation box set up in the reception area (there is no online option), but only if you wish to participate.
